Carpentaria Resources began its public company life in November 2007 with a successful $7.5 million IPO but was hit by the GFC just months later. Despite the economic headwinds, the company’s exploration efforts were rewarded with the discovery of its flagship Hawsons Iron Project, the largest magnetite discovery in eastern Australia.

In 2011, Principal Anthony Fensom walked away with the best investor relations gongs from the Public Relations Institute of Australia for his commitment to Carpentaria’s cause, based on his strategic campaign embracing both traditional and social media.

The support generated by Republic has proved crucial in sustaining the company through the subsequent downturn in the iron ore sector. With blue-chip backing from buyers across Asia and the Middle East, Carpentaria is now focused on advancing its Broken Hill-based project into production following a successful prefeasibility study.
